2005

On Sunday 3rd of July 2005, Arab African International Bank (AAIB) successfully launched the complete renovation of the entire 4th floor of Cairo University Specialized Pediatrics Hospital (Abu El Reesh Hospital); an outcome of diligent and hard effort over a couple of years.

AAIB's contribution to the hospital includes helping develop a new system of policies and procedures in coordination with the hospital's management to ensure a high quality service given to the patients. It is worth mentioning that AAIB conducted a one year comprehensive Training Program for all hospital nurses & support staff, to upgrade their skills and better serve the patients.

During the launch ceremony of the 4th floor, Mr. Hassan Abdalla, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Arab African International Bank acknowledged the efforts of Professor Dr. Maha Mourad- Hospital Manager, Professor Dr. Madiha Khatab- Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University and welcomed H.E. Professor Amr Ezzat Salama, Minister of Higher Education & Academic Research; Professor Ali Abdel Rahman- President of Cairo University, and H.E. Antonio Badini, Ambassador of Italy and H.E. Kunihiko Makaita, Ambassador of Japan.

Mr Abdalla said “what has been achieved so far is part of an ongoing project to revamp the rest of the hospital, and to present a model of what and how institutions can possibly contribute to the society”.

2003 - 2004

This thoughtful initiative was first taken by AAIB in 2003, with the renovation of the left wing of the 4th floor of the hospital.

On July 1st , 2004 AAIB celebrated the renovation of the left wing of the 4th floor of the hospital, for post-operative patient children. AAIB's efforts were not only limited to material donations but also extended to help children get their medical treatment in a healthy, hygienic, and cheerful environment. The renovated unit accommodated 40 beds, which included Kidney and Cardiac Rehabilitation Units. To brighten up the children's day, a playroom was constructed which included a TV set with cartoon cable, games and books.

AAIB's efforts were applauded by Dr Moufid Shehab, Minister of State for Shura Council Affairs, Dr Hussein Kamel Bahaa El Din, former Minister of Education, and Dr Madiha Khattab, Dean of Faculty of Medicine - Cairo University. They collectively expressed their aspiration that other Egyptian institutions would follow this pattern . Commenting on this initiative, Mr Hassan Abdalla, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of AAIB noted, "…beyond being a profit-making organization, AAIB has a moral mission serving the Egyptian community."
